They had to wait until March 19, 1937, for a ministerial decision to authorize its creation, a decision which, due to the war, was renewed in 1948. As with the bandstand, the project was entrusted to André Bergès, which explains how the Gare school was given an astonishing Basque-Landes villa on rue Dangey, adjoining the former village hall and close to the boys' school.
The complementary course is co-educational, much to the delight of the boys: boys and girls are educated there, both from Morcenx and from surrounding towns, provided they are served by the Mache-cul, the little train of the Voies Ferrées des Landes. Students attended it until the middle school was founded in 1968. Some of them went on to have very successful careers.
Since then, it has been integrated into the school complex's buildings. Showing its age, renovation work has been carried out while preserving its character.
Completed in 2019, the work has provided better space for teachers and students, while opening it up to create a welcoming space for families. A Liberty Tree was planted there in 2018, a nod to the former Boulevard de la Liberté that ran through the old town of Morcenx during the Third Republic. It is also a reminder of the rights and duties of all partners in secular schools, to live better together, as indicated on the explanatory panel.
