Even before 1992, the year the Arjuzanx thermal power plant closed, the town of Morcenx was involved in the establishment of new economic hubs in the area, emphasizing the need for inter-municipal cooperation.

It was within this framework that the project for a Morcenx Country Tourist Office took shape. The firm of Bordeaux architect Éric Wirth won this public contract, which also included the development of central spaces. Thus, the Morcenx Country House was decided upon in 1993. With its resolutely modern design, it was built on the site of one of the former station chalets.

On February 14, 1996, the Maison du Pays Morcenais underwent a makeover and became the Pays Morcenais Tourist Office. Its facade was enhanced with a bold canopy to shelter access to the building. Like all tourist offices in France, it is an association governed by the 1901 law, with its primary mission to study and implement measures to increase tourism. In 2025, its director was supported by a 24-member board of directors and a team of 20 volunteers, including five greeters. The Pays Morcenais region can count on its Tourist Office (OT) to promote a heritage that includes numerous natural sites and buildings whose architectural richness attests to the history of previous centuries.

At certain markets and in various locations throughout the Morcenais region, Tourist Office stands invite you to current events. Step through the door: visitors and Morcenais residents alike can see that the Tourist Office's missions are fully fulfilled. It can be a haven while waiting between trains, and travelers can find information on a bulletin board displaying various announcements. It provides information on-site or online about the main activities for the coming months in all the region's municipalities. It participates in the main events that punctuate the year, including Festirues and Festiplantes, Festidanses du monde, the farmers' market, the associations' forum, the Foulées roses morcenaises, and other events. Exhibitions are occasionally organized there. The tourist office has had a website since 2013. Regularly updated, it has been

revived since January 2024. By clicking on https://tourismepaysmorcenais.fr
