Since its inception, La Cigale had been looking for a permanent location to hold music theory classes and rehearsals, and to store bulky instruments and costumes. Moreover, this old lady had accumulated archives of all kinds (commemorative photos, old costumes, flags, pennants and trophies, sheet music, and documents).
With this long history, having a space adapted to their needs became a recurring request from musicians, not only for music school lessons, but also to accommodate band rehearsals, but they would have to wait...
In 1984, the Landes National School of Music and Dance was created with the aim of providing quality artistic instruction to budding musicians, who could then join the ranks of the youth orchestra and then the wind band. Within this framework, the municipal school of music and dance, a 280 m² space, was inaugurated at the end of December 1995 in the former dispensary. This commitment was confirmed in 2007 with the creation of the Landes Conservatory. The Morcenx branch, one of the five branches of the Landes Conservatory, is the administrative center for the northern sector of the Landes region.
Since then, the La Cigale association's wind band and banda Los Alégrios have shared this space with the Landes Conservatory. During the week, music education and instrumental practice are handled by the conservatory; rehearsals for the wind band and banda take place on weekends. This strengthens ties with the conservatory: the La Cigale harmony welcomes students from the conservatory as part of its collective practice. It takes over from the junior orchestra in the middle of the second cycle for this compulsory practice for students.
