After some negotiations, two parcels were acquired, one measuring 90 ares (0.90 hectares) and the other 47 ares (0.47 hectares). Finally, on August 10, 1951, the deal was finalized. Formerly forested plots, they would be developed: stumps would be cleared and leveled, and a wire fence with reinforced concrete posts would be erected. In addition, the relocation of power lines was necessary, adding further costs.
Would the work be able to begin according to the master plan drawn up in 1958 by Messrs. Bergès, architect, and Capmas, civil engineer, a plan adopted by the Departmental Directorate of Sports? This was without taking into account certain administrative delays in the payment of the promised subsidies… which would happen in 1961. Finally, the municipal stadium was inaugurated in 1965, with stands for 800 people, showers and changing rooms, meeting rooms and even central heating !
In the same year as the stadium's inauguration, a fronton with four changing rooms and showers was built behind the stands, according to the plan drawn up by the architect André Bergès. Basque pelota was already being played in Morcenx when it became a section of the CAM (Morcenx Athletic Club) in 1946 (see Angel Lama).
Since the construction of the municipal fronton, training sessions and competitions have been held regularly. In 2012, the pelota section was finally rewarded for all its efforts in the premier discipline, bare-handed pelota in the open court: the Morcenx players won the Landes championship title in the 3rd division.
In the spring of 2024, they had the pleasure of returning to a brand-new fronton.
