This group was founded by Léo Tual, an SNCF engineer in Morcenx. Originally from Touraine, he quickly became involved in Morcenx life, creating the Lous Cigalouns de Mourseuns folk group in January 1946. The aim was to provide young Cigalouns with a fun and sporting activity, while also giving them opportunities to participate in major national and international festivals.
The objective was achieved since the Cigalouns have won the Silver Necklace twice, in 1964 and 1966, at the Dijon International Festival and in 1979 they received the European Prize for Folk Art awarded by the Stiftung FVS Foundation of Hamburg (Germany)... It is since this date that they have organised, every two years in Morcenx-la-Nouvelle, the Haute Lande Folk Festival, a great gathering of friendship between peoples.
This same building also houses the Rampeau Rail Morcenais, another association that keeps alive the old games of the Landes region. It is a game of three skittles, large skittles that must be knocked down by throwing a large ball.
